From Reuters
TOKYO —
The widow of one of two Japanese diplomats gunned down in Iraq last month gave birth Friday to a girl, Kyodo news agency said, quoting relatives and the Foreign Ministry.
Mother and baby were well, although the girl was born before a January due date, Kyodo said.
Yukino Inoue’s husband, Masamori, 30, and Katsuhiko Oku, 45, were killed Nov. 29 in an ambush en route to a reconstruction conference in Tikrit. Inoue is also survived by a 2-year-old son.
The deaths, Japan’s first in Iraq, shocked the Asian nation.
