The only thing that was clear about the Mike Comrie situation Sunday was that the Ducks could probably use the holdout Edmonton forward.

Duck General Manager Bryan Murray and Edmonton General Manager Kevin Lowe met after the first period of Sunday’s game to discuss the trade that has been made, but not consummated. Lowe is insisting that Comrie pay the Oilers $2.535 million.

The Ducks have agreed to send prospect Corey Perry and a first-round draft pick to Edmonton for Comrie. Murray has even agreed with Comrie on a two-year deal worth a little more than $3 million.

Nothing was resolved at the meeting, said Lowe, who said the next move was up to Comrie and his agent, Rich Winter.

“I have not talked to them since I first discussed it with them,” Lowe said.

The Ducks certainly could use Comrie, who has 53 goals the last two seasons. But Murray said he would not up his offer.

Murray said he would not call off the trade at this point.

The Ducks called up defenseman Mark Popovic as a precaution in case Kurt Sauer was unable to play.

The Ducks were already down to six defensemen, as Keith Carney (back) and Sandis Ozolinsh (rib cage) were out because of injuries.
