2 Die as Speeding Car Crashes Into Canal
A speeding Cadillac crashed through a guardrail and landed upside down in a canal Wednesday, killing two of four people inside, police said.
Two men, one of whom was driving, were killed and two women in the car were critically injured, authorities said.
The car was traveling “at an incredible speed,” police Lt. Bill Schwartz said. Earlier Wednesday, police had suspected a hit-and-run crash but found no evidence of contact between the Cadillac and any other vehicle.
“He went through that guardrail like it was made of paper,” Schwartz said.
Miami residents Roberto Diaz Jr., 21, and David Leiva, 19, were killed. Margarita Perez, 20, and Tais Elias, 18, were listed in critical condition.
