Flowerpot Clubbing at Party Lands Pair in Jail
Two Marin County men are giving flower power a bad name.
Jonathan Cantu and Charles J. Kern had exchanged gifts at a Christmas Eve party when they started to argue, said Novato Police Sgt. Jennifer Tejada.
Authorities aren’t sure what the dispute was about -- it might have been about the gifts -- but they are sure what happened next.
One of the men grabbed a flowerpot and clubbed the other over the head. The other man did the same, authorities said.
“I don’t know why they were dissatisfied,” Tejada said. “But both men had been drinking.”
After being treated at Novato Community Hospital, Cantu, 39, and Kern, 50, were booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
The two men, both of San Rafael, were released Friday following a court appearance.
