High-Scoring Team Lacks Lions’ Bite

Share

Admittedly, Rob Fernas’ front-page story [Feb. 3] on Grinnell’s run-and-gun college basketball team was comical. Grinnell Coach David Arseneault’s bravado about his team’s lack of preparation was hysterical. But Fernas went too far by drawing parallels between this under-achieving Division III team and Loyola Marymount’s high-flying, super-athletic and multitalented 1987-1990 teams. Remember when Loyola defeated a talented Michigan, 149-115, in the 1990 NCAA tournament?

We would all do well to remember Grinnell as the team that got blasted, 162-110, by its only Division I opponent this season, lowly Drake.
