Moore meets Oscar: Michael Moore’s 1989 film, “Roger & Me,” is one in a list of documentaries -- including “Hoop Dreams” and “Thin Blue Line” -- that drew widespread praise but were ignored at Oscar time. This year, Moore’s “Bowling for Columbine” is the most heralded of the documentary nominees and the only film that has had anything more than a token theatrical release. Still, despite a voting rule change two years ago, this remains one of Oscar’s hardest-to-predict categories, so Moore might be bowled over.
