PETA Is Out of Touch

Share

I loved People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wildlife biologist Stephanie Boyles’ concerns regarding sea lions that are being used by the Navy to patrol for and apprehend intruders among Persian Gulf-assigned ships (“Navy Adds Some Bark to Its Bite,” Feb. 12). Boyles and PETA have a problem with intentionally putting the seals in harm’s way. Most Americans would agree.

But given the choice, I’d rather sacrifice a sea lion that did its job detecting an Al Qaeda terrorist bent on blowing up a Navy ship than allow the killing of tens if not hundreds of personnel in the alternative. It’s no wonder PETA can’t be taken seriously by most mainstream Americans. Three cheers to the Navy for making use of such an ingenious and low-tech way to protect our service personnel.
