A Los Angeles private school already being sued over an alleged sexual relationship between a coach and a student now faces a second lawsuit involving another former coach and a 16-year-old girl.

The suit, filed last month on behalf of the student, who is now 20, alleges that Ribet Academy never should have hired Jrmirol Duncan as a basketball coach because he had previously been convicted of marijuana possession and violence against a former spouse.

Working at Ribet in 1999, Duncan, then 26, began a sexual relationship with the girl that lasted until January 2002, the lawsuit alleges.

The student has retained the same attorney as a girl who is suing Ribet and former coach Paul Calvin Clark III for allegedly manipulating her into an illegal sexual relationship. Clark was convicted in June of four counts of sex with the minor and sentenced to three years in prison. The civil lawsuit is still pending.

Ribet administrator Ronald Sires declined to comment Wednesday on the suit against Duncan and the school. Attempts to reach Duncan were unsuccessful.

Ribet Academy is located in the Glassell Park area of Los Angeles.
