2 Men Shot During Carwash Fund-Raiser
From Times Staff Reports
Oxnard police are investigating the shootings of two men at a carwash meant to raise funds for the funeral of their 18-year-old friend.
The men, who were not identified, were treated for moderate injuries at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, police said. The attack occurred about 1:45 p.m. Sunday when a passenger stepped out of a vehicle and fired into the crowd at Hill Street and Saviers Road, said Sgt. Jason Benites.
The fund-raiser was being held for the family of Joshua Pelaya, who was shot in the head at his Oxnard home on Friday.
