The St. Louis Blues dominated the first two periods against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night, but Curtis Joseph and Brendan Shanahan made sure that didn’t matter.

Joseph made 29 saves and Shanahan scored twice to help the Red Wings win, 5-1, at Detroit.

Detroit, which leads the league with 52 points, stretched its unbeaten streak to nine games and ended St. Louis’ five-game run without a loss. The Blues are second in the Central Division, five points behind the Red Wings.

“We just couldn’t find a way to get past Joseph at the right time,” St. Louis forward Scott Mellanby said.
