Council OKs Pay Raises for Managers
The general manager of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power will get raises boosting his salary to a record $312,000 by 2004 under a package of pay hikes approved Tuesday by the City Council for department heads.
The council approved cost-of-living raises for general managers and 1,114 other employees of 2% every six months retroactive to July 1, 2001, and with a final 3% raise on Jan. 1, 2004.
If DWP chief David Wiggs remains on the job, he will be the first city executive to break through the $300,000 mark.
