Olausson Is Left Out

Share

Hockey is again a spectator sport for Mighty Duck defenseman Fredrik Olausson.

He has been a scratch four of the last five games after having no goals and one assist in his last six games. Olausson said he was healthy.

“It’s only an issue if you make it one,” Duck Coach Mike Babcock said.

This has been a difficult season for Olausson, who signed a one-year, $1.1-million contract to be part of the power-play beautification program. He has two goals and six points in 28 games.

He lost his spot on the top power-play unit to Niclas Havelid. Olausson then sat out six of seven games in mid-November to work himself into better playing shape. Olausson, 36, had two goals and one assist on power plays during a six-game stretch in mid-December.
