Firefighter in Critical Condition After Fall
From Times Wire Reports
A firefighter was in critical condition Friday after falling from a fire engine as it rushed to San Francisco International Airport. It was the first such mishap in city history, officials said.
Thirteen-year veteran Melinda Ohler, 40, suffered head injuries and had two operations to relieve pressure on her brain.
Fire Chief Mario Trevino said Ohler had signaled “all clear.” She fell moments after the engine left the station. Her seat belt was found unfastened.
