Darius Rice, the nephew of Oakland Raider receiver Jerry Rice, capped a 43-point performance by stealing an inbounds pass and making a three-point basket at the buzzer to give Miami a 77-76 win over No. 11 Connecticut Monday night at Coral Gables, Fla. Connecticut is 11-3 overall, 2-1 in the Big East. Miami is 8-7, 1-3.
In other games, Hollis Price made a shot at the buzzer to force overtime, then scored five points in overtime to help No. 7 Oklahoma beat Texas Tech, 69-64, at Norman, Okla. Oklahoma is 12-3, 3-1 in the Big 12.... Larry House had a career-high 23 points to lead No. 10 Creighton (16-1, 7-0) past Illinois State, 95-82, in a Missouri Valley Conference game at Omaha.
WOMEN
No. 1 Duke 78, No. 9 North Carolina 67 -- Alana Beard scored 26 points to lead the Blue Devils (17-0, 5-0) to an Atlantic Coast Conference win over the Tar Heels (15-2, 5-1) in overtime.
No. 2 Connecticut 72, Notre Dame 53 -- The Huskies, 17-0 overall and 5-0 in the Big East, won at South Bend, Ind., for their 56th straight win.
