Man Shoots Self While Beating Dog With Gun

Police in Winchester said Raymond “Raven” Poore, 43, a construction worker, apparently was beating his dog, a 2-year-old Chinese Shar-Pei, on the head with the butt of a shotgun when the gun discharged and hit Poore in the lower abdomen, killing him. Poore’s wife, Debbie, told police her husband called her at work to say that the dog had bitten him on the hand and he was going to kill it.

The dog, which survived the beating with its throat torn open, was later destroyed at Debbie Poore’s request.
