California (6-10, 2-5) at UCLA (11-6, 6-2), Pauley Pavilion, noon, KBET (850), KTDD (1350) -- The Bruins have been a team of streaks: losing two of three, winning four straight, losing three straight, winning seven straight. Now, with Friday’s narrow 80-78 loss to fifth-ranked Stanford, the Bruins have dropped their last two. Not only does UCLA want to avoid falling back into a bad rut against Cal, the Bruins don’t want to undo much of the good work they have done to reach the conference upper echelon in the first round of Pacific 10 Conference play. Cal had 28 turnovers against USC on Friday, which is not a good sign in preparing for the UCLA’s full-court defensive pressure.

No. 5 Stanford (15-1, 6-0) at USC (8-11, 3-5), Sports Arena, 1 p.m., KMPC (1540) -- The high flying Cardinal has won 10 straight and carries a 28-game Pac-10 winning streak into today’s contest. And Stanford, having barely escaped UCLA’s upset bid on Friday, will be on guard for a similar bid by USC. The Trojans have a more modest winning streak (two) after beating Cal, 83-62, on Friday -- but it’s the first time USC has won back-to-back games since opening the season 2-0.
