Hawkish Faces Trial for Ed Burke Memorial

Hawkish, the upset winner of the Kindergarten Futurity on May 17, is among 54 2-year-olds competing in six trials tonight for the upcoming Ed Burke Memorial Futurity.

By virtue of his win at 7-1 odds in the Kindergarten, Hawkish, a son of Dash Thru Traffic, has taken one step toward qualifying for a $1-million bonus that goes to a horse that can sweep the Kindergarten, Ed Burke and, in December, the Los Alamitos Million Futurity. .

Owned by E G High Desert Farms and trained by Concepcion Balderrama, Hawkish will run in tonight’s third trial. The 10 fastest qualifiers will move on to the $400,000 final, which will be run July 26.
