Parents But the Food

Share

The lack of personal responsibility is astounding today. Elena Lingas (letter, July 15) is actually saying that there needs to be government regulation of the food industry because parents are pestered by their kids in the supermarket. How about growing a backbone and saying no to them? This is rather simple and doesn’t require an act of Congress.

It doesn’t take a village or a law to raise a child, it takes a parent. If a child is obese, it is no one’s fault but that of the parents who make the spending decisions. The 8-year-olds of this world aren’t buying Big Macs themselves. If you have no self-control, it’s not the government’s job to provide it for you.
