Beasley Scores Twice as Fire Routs Earthquakes

DaMarcus Beasley scored two goals as the Chicago Fire beat the San Jose Earthquakes, 4-1, Saturday in front of 7,410 at San Jose.

San Jose (4-1-2) lost for the first time this season.

Beasley scored his first goal for the Fire (3-1-3) in the 28th minute past San Jose goalkeeper Jon Conway. He also scored in the 90th minute.

Damani Ralph and Ante Razov scored Chicago’s other goals.

Columbus 1, New York/New Jersey 1 -- Clint Mathis scored on a penalty kick in the 64th minute as the MetroStars (5-1-2) extended their unbeaten streak to seven in a tie against the Crew (3-3-3) in front of 12,518 at Columbus, Ohio.

The MetroStars were awarded the penalty kick after goalkeeper Jon Busch tripped Amado Guevara in the box while the two chased Guevara’s rebound.

Dallas 3, Washington 2 -- Ronald Cerritos scored on a penalty kick in the 75th minute at Southlake, Texas, after a foul by Earnie Stewart to lift the Burn (1-3-3) over D.C. United (0-3-4) in front of 7,617. Bobby Convey scored both goals for Washington.

Kansas City 2, New England 2 -- Preki scored goals in the 72nd and 84th minutes and the visiting Wizards (3-1-5) tied the Revolution (4-2-3) in front of 10,312 at Foxboro, Mass.
