In another legal challenge to Los Angeles County’s troubled health department, a nonprofit Antelope Valley hospital filed a federal lawsuit Monday seeking to protect inpatient services at the county-run High Desert Hospital.

The county plans to convert High Desert to an outpatient clinic by June 30, saving an estimated $10 million per year. But hospital officials fear that the cuts would propel a flood of uninsured patients into its wards.
