“A Year With Frog and Toad,” the Tony-nominated musical based on the children’s books by Arnold Lobel, will close June 15 after a run of 73 performances.

The show got mostly positive reviews when it opened April 13 at the Cort Theatre, but it never caught on at the box office.

Earlier in the season, the show, written by Robert Reale and Willie Reale, had played successful engagements at the Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis -- which will receive the 2003 regional theater Tony Award -- and at the New Victory Theatre in New York.

Besides being nominated for best musical, “Frog and Toad” received Tony nominations for best score and book. Winners will be announced Sunday in ceremonies televised on CBS.
