Delay Sought in Nuclear Plant License Transfer
The California Public Utilities Commission and the county asked federal regulators to postpone transfer of Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant’s operating license to two subsidiary companies.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff granted permission last month for Pacific Gas and Electric Co. to transfer its license to two subsidiaries as part of bankruptcy reorganization.
But state and county officials want the full commission to delay the transfer until PG&E;’s reorganization is complete and legal challenges are resolved.
