Embezzler Seems to Come Out Ahead
Re “Embezzler Told to Repay Millions,” June 3:
The Foothill Ranch resident, Keith Taylor, who pleaded guilty to embezzling $10 million from his former employer, Zurich Payroll Solutions, seems to have made good use of his time. He embezzled $10 million over a period of three years (from 1999 to 2002). Now, for his trouble, he gets less than three years of free room and board in federal prison and has to pay a fine of $465,000 within 90 days (not too hard if you have $10 million stashed away somewhere).
Then he must pay $1,000 a month until restitution is complete, about 800 years.
What is the U.S. attorney’s office thinking?
