A man who was shot and killed Sunday in Oxnard has been identified as Brian Brown, authorities said Monday.

Brown, 28, of Oxnard was shot several times in the head in an alley in the 4200 block of Terrace Avenue about 7:30 a.m. Officers found him alive in the passenger seat of a 1990 gray Honda Civic. He died an hour later at an Oxnard hospital. Brown’s slaying was the 14th recorded homicide in the city this year.

Brown had lived on and off in Oxnard for the last several years, but his family lives out of state, authorities said. A motive for the killing has not been established, but authorities said Brown was familiar to police in the city.

Court records show Brown had been convicted of several misdemeanor and felony crimes since 1993, including evading police, hit-and-run, vandalism, spousal abuse and witness intimidation.
