Green Line Should Be Extended to LAX

Share

Re “San Francisco Gets Train-to-Plane Link,” June 16: Whither the Metropolitan Transportation Authority? Your article on the Bay Area Rapid Transit extension to San Francisco Airport makes local leaders, especially in the MTA, seem sadly foolish. Their obstinate refusal to build an extension of the Green Line to LAX made no sense when it was first espoused, and makes even less now.

I fly to conventions, usually twice a year. I do not use LAX because of the parking mess. A Green Line extension would eliminate this problem. That the Green Line patronage is as high as it is is remarkable, but think how much better it would be with an LAX extension. Traffic alone would be eased significantly.

One additional note on the MTA: It looks like riders can expect a messy strike soon, especially since the board approved a budget with no pay raises.
