City Officials Approve Monthly Shutdowns
From Staff and Wire Reports
City officials have decided to proceed with plans for a once-a-month government shutdown and to send out 163 layoff and demotion notices.
Last week, the City Council approved a $788-million two-year budget, erasing a $38.7-million gap in the fiscal year starting July 1 and an additional $11 million the next year. The once-a-month government shutdown will save about $6.5 million.
