Two Garden Grove city councilmen recently announced campaigns to run for a state Assembly seat in the March 2004 election.
Mark Leyes, 44, and Van Tran, 38, seek the 68th Assembly District seat, now held by Ken Maddox, who cannot run because of term limits.
Leyes, who has been on the council for 12 years, said he has raised $120,000 so far.
Tran, who was elected in 2000, said he raised about $43,000 during a campaign kickoff in Santa Ana. He has set a goal of raising $250,000 by June.
