2 Hurt as Big Rig Spills Load, Crushing a Car

A massive air-conditioning unit being hauled by a big-rig truck Wednesday struck an overpass on the transition to the eastbound Artesia Freeway and fell on top of a car, nearly crushing two people, authorities said.
Firefighters spent almost an hour freeing the driver of the car and his wife. Both are expected to survive. The cargo fell to within six inches to a foot of the driver, authorities said.
