Injured McDonald Gets Good News

Share

The difficulty center Andy McDonald has had recovering from a concussion may be related to an injured nerve problem in his eye.

McDonald, who has sat out 30 of the last 34 games after suffering a concussion, was examined Wednesday by Dr. James Kelly, a specialist on concussions. McDonald will see an optometrist to test his vision when the Ducks return home Sunday.

“The good thing about this is it is treatable,” McDonald said. “It’s not just sitting around and waiting for my head to clear up.”

McDonald, one of the Ducks’ top six forwards, had been skating and practicing with the team, hoping to return to the lineup within a week. However, McDonald did not feel well after flying to Chicago with the team Tuesday. So he went to see Kelley

“This is a good sign,” McDonald said. “This may have nothing to do with a concussion.”

McDonald has 10 goals and 21 points this season.
