Two people were arrested in the stabbing of a 17-year-old student during a fight Thursday outside a Fullerton continuation school.
Fullerton Police Sgt. Ron Gillette said the attack appeared to be gang-related. David Pennington, 21, of Garden Grove and a teenage boy from La Habra, whose name was withheld, were detained on suspicion of attempted murder. The victim, a Buena Park teen whose name was not released, was in good condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange with two stomach wounds, authorities said.
The attack took place as students were leaving La Vista Continuation School in the 900 block of North State College Boulevard, Gillette said.
The student was walking down the school’s driveway when a van pulled up. Pennington got out of the van and began to fight with the student, and then the teenager rushed from the van and stabbed the student, police said.
Pennington and the teenager fled in the van, police said.
La Vista is not known for trouble, Gillette said.
