Forecasters expect a storm that moved into Ventura County on Friday afternoon to stick around through today, dumping up to 2 inches near the coast and 4 inches in the mountains.

The storm, which approached from the north, had deposited about half an inch of precipitation in Santa Barbara by 6 p.m. Friday, more than a third of an inch at Lake Casitas and more than a quarter-inch in Ventura.

The rain was expected to be heavy overnight, lightening throughout the day and tapering off by nightfall, said meteorologist David Gomberg.
