Old Globe will showcase Arthur Miller’s latest

The Old Globe Theatre in San Diego will present the West Coast premiere of Arthur Miller’s latest play, “Resurrection Blues,” March 18 to April 18, 2004.

“Resurrection Blues,” a satire set in a totalitarian state, premiered at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis last summer.

Also occupying the Old Globe during the 2003-04 season will be Tom Stoppard’s “Rough Crossing” (Sept. 18-Oct. 26), William Inge’s “Bus Stop” (Jan. 22-Feb. 22) and Moliere’s “Don Juan” as adapted and directed by Stephen Wadsworth (May 6-June 6, 2004).

Slated for the smaller Cassius Carter Centre Stage are Joe Penhall’s Olivier Award-winning “Blue/Orange” (Sept. 24-Oct. 26), Jenny Laird’s “Sky Girls” (Jan. 16-Feb. 22), Nilo Cruz’s “Two Sisters and a Piano” (March 10-April 11) and Nicky Silver’s “The Food Chain” (April 28-May 30, 2004).

Cruz’s “Anna in the Tropics” won this year’s Pulitzer Prize for drama. It will be seen in October at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, which staged “Two Sisters and a Piano” in 1999.

In addition to the Old Globe’s usual “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” (Nov. 13-Dec. 31), the theater’s holiday program also will include a new musical, “Striking 12,” (Dec. 10-31) in a cabaret-style production in the Cassius Carter, written and performed by the folk-rock group GrooveLily.
