City, Police Chief at Odds Over Why He Was Fired

John Sterling says he was dismissed as police chief because of his short-lived political ambitions.
But the city attorney says he was disciplined for threatening to sue the city manager, Tim Ness.
A March 19 memorandum from Ness said the chief threatened to sue him.
Sterling, 52, said he has hired an attorney to get his job back.
