Szerlip Wins Election, Unofficial Returns Show

A businessman who had been viewed as the underdog candidate defeated a former fire chief on Tuesday to win the District 3 seat on the Redondo Beach City Council.
Don Szerlip outpolled Pat Aust, winning 663 votes to Aust’s 556 votes, according to unofficial election night returns.
Szerlip, 51, helped establish a popular dog park in the city several years ago and has served on the Public Works Commission.
