It’s OK, he’s with the band

The mother of all birthday bashes happened on Saturday at A.D. in Hollywood, as Jane’s Addiction manager Adam Schneider celebrated his B-day with a surprise performance by, you guessed it, Jane’s Addiction. One of L.A.’s all-time favorite bands, Jane’s performed such mouth-watering faves as “Stop,” “Mountain Song,” “Ocean Size” and “Ain’t No Right.” Guests also got a sampling of two new tracks, “Just Because” and “Strays.” Among those in the blissed-out audience were Audioslave’s Chris Cornell and Tom Morello, along with such divas as Britney Murphy and Carmen Electra, the squeeze of Jane’s guitarist Dave Navarro.... Seems all the club kids are becoming restaurateurs. Belly’s Mike Boogie and Lonnie Moore are cranking up Eye-talian food over at the fab-o new Melrose Avenue spot Dolce, while Goldfingers Mark Leddy is going uptown with his new Sunset Strip supper club, Tangerine. Not to mention, Dublin’s owners, the Moss brothers, just opened the Falls, a glamorous restaurant across from the Chateau Marmont at the old location of Union. Add to the list the fine Los Feliz steak joint Hilmont, which is owned by Steven Arroyo and Cedd Moses, who both own Cobra Lily, and you’ve got a party.

Movies and wine

CineSpace is celebrating the films and winemaking of Francis Ford Coppola the last Thursday of each month. On May 29, the Hollywood Boulevard nightclub is screening his “Cotton Club.” ... Plucky Prive receptionist Lance Bulen handed me an EP from his band Puzzle Gut. It’s southern-fried rock for the soul.... Everyone’s talking about Raw, a new eatery in Santa Monica that offers cheeseburgers made of nutloaf and portabello mushrooms with a sprouted buckwheat crust. Dang hippies.
