Review the movie

AFTER reading Manohla Dargis’ “review” of “Daddy Day Care” (“ ‘Day Care’ Won’t Help,” May 9), I am still searching for her opinion of the film itself. Instead, what appeared was not a critique of the film but rather an inappropriate and ill-considered attempt to sum up Eddie Murphy’s career.

Eddie is one of the most brilliant comedic talents of our time and his track record speaks for itself. His career should be judged in its entirety, not just on a few titles that might not have fully delivered on his talents.

After all, what Hollywood star hasn’t had a miss? For more than 25 years, Eddie has consistently been making audiences laugh -- and for that we should all be a little more grateful, and maybe just a little less judgmental.
