Former Pepperdine forward Anthony Frederick, who played with three NBA teams, has died of an apparent heart attack, the school said Friday. He was 38.
Police said Frederick lost consciousness while driving in the San Fernando Valley on Thursday afternoon with his wife, Jocelyn. He was pronounced dead at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Woodland Hills less than an hour later.
Frederick played for Pepperdine from 1984 through 1986.
He averaged 11.8 points and 7.2 rebounds the first season and 9.4 points and 6.9 rebounds the second.
Frederick was selected by Denver in the 1986 NBA draft but never played for the Nuggets.
Frederick played a total of 147 games with Indiana, Sacramento and Charlotte. He retired in 1992.
