Starz Encore Group, which sells movies to cable and satellite TV subscribers, plans to cut 100 jobs and close four of its 11 regional offices as it adjusts to a changing pay-TV industry.

Starz, which employs 657 people, will close its offices in San Ramon, Calif.; Buffalo, N.Y.; St. Louis; and Dallas in January and relocate some workers to Denver.

Some of the regional offices were designed to serve nearby cable-TV providers, some of which have moved their headquarters, Starz spokesman Tom Southwick said. Starz also may reduce staffing at its Englewood, Colo., headquarters, but Southwick did not have details.

“It’s not a ‘Gee, we need to cut costs’ sort of thing,” Southwick said. “The company is 12 years old, and we need to rethink what we’re doing.”
