“The Matrix Revolutions” wrapped up the sci-fi trilogy with a worldwide five-day gross of $201.3 million, according to more complete projections that Warner Bros. released Monday. Domestically, the movie brought in $83.8 million over the same period, a little less than the studio estimated Sunday. Still, it set a record as the biggest-ever simultaneous worldwide opening. That distinction previously belonged to “The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers,” which grossed roughly $190 million worldwide over five days in December 2002. The Friday-through-Sunday domestic gross of $48.5 million for “The Matrix Revolutions” fell far short of the three-day and five-day tallies of $91.8 million and $134.3 million that Part 2, “The Matrix Reloaded,” took in on May 16-18 of this year.

New Line Cinema’s “Elf” worked enough magic to come in second with $31.1 million, averaging $9,324 in 3,337 locations.

The romantic comedy-drama “Love Actually” performed well, earning a per-theater average of $11,955 in 576 locations.

For the year, the estimated total for all films to date is $7.61 billion, just ahead of last year’s comparable figure of $7.58 billion, according to the tracking firm Nielsen EDI Inc.
