USC’s Farmer Is Injured

USC senior guard Desmon Farmer joined the list of injured Trojan players during their 94-87 exhibition win over the Long Island All-Stars before 550 in the Lyon Center on Sunday night.

Farmer, who averaged a team-high 18.7 points last season, injured his right hip late in the first half and did not return. He said he would undergo a precautionary X-ray today and hopes to play in the Trojans’ season opener at Western Michigan on Friday.

Other injured Trojans are senior guard Roy Smiley, whose painful left ankle has him considering season-ending surgery and taking a medical redshirt, and junior forward Nick Curtis, sidelined with tendinitis in his left knee.Forward Jeff McMillan, who didn’t play last season after his transfer from Fordham, led the Trojans with 20 points and eight rebounds while freshman guard Lodrick Stewart had 17 points and six rebounds. Former Cal State Northridge forward Andre Larry led all scorers with 27 points.
