Shooters of different stripes

Share

On a plane to South Africa, I sat next to a man going to hunt big game. I told him we had a lot in common. We were both going to hunt with a guide, patiently try to get close to our targets, feel our adrenaline pump as we took our best shots. We both would bring home trophies. The only difference? His would be the head of a murdered animal and my photographer’s trophy would be a framed, two-dimensional print of a living animal. Our fellow passengers applauded.
