George Harrison, Prince and Jackson Browne are among seven acts who will be joining the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next March. Bob Seger, ZZ Top, Traffic and the Dells round out this year’s list of new members, announced Thursday by the organization.
Harrison, already a Hall of Famer as a member of the Beatles, is being inducted again for his solo work. His former bandmates Paul McCartney and John Lennon were previously elected for their solo work too. Harrison died in November 2001.
Acts on this year’s final ballot who didn’t make the cut: the Sex Pistols, Patti Smith, Gram Parsons, John Mellencamp, Black Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Stooges. They can be nominated again in future years.
Musicians become eligible for membership 25 years after the release of their first record. A committee of rock historians selects nominees, which are then voted on by a group of about 700 rock critics and other music authorities.
The induction ceremony will be March 15 in New York.
