Bruins Continue Point Streak

The Boston Bruins won their 11th game while the Washington Capitals remained stuck at an NHL-low 11 points.

The Bruins extended their streak without a regulation loss to 11 games by beating the Capitals, 3-2, Thursday night at Boston.

Boston, which has won four in a row at home, has earned at least one point in every game since it lost to Carolina on Oct. 23 (7-0-1-3). The Bruins lead the Northeast Division with 28 points.

Washington (5-13-1) is tied with Pittsburgh for the NHL’s lowest point total.

Columbus 3, Detroit 0 -- Dan Fritsche became the first Ohio native to score a goal for the Blue Jackets, and Marc Denis stopped 25 shots at Columbus.

The 18-year-old Fritsche’s wrist shot at 3:11 of the third period was the first goal of his NHL career. The Parma, Ohio, native was a second-round pick in this year’s draft.

Detroit had been unbeaten in five games (4-0-1), while the Blue Jackets were winless in five (0-3-2).

Philadelphia 3, Minnesota 1 -- Mark Recchi had two power-play goals and an assist, helping the Flyers extend their unbeaten streak to eight games (7-0-1) and improve to 8-0-2 at home.

Tony Amonte had a goal and an assist, and Jeremy Roenick had two assists for Philadelphia. The line of Roenick, Recchi and Amonte has 51 points in 15 games since they were united four games into the season.

Ottawa 6, Carolina 1 -- The Senators, who ended a 2-2 homestand, scored five times in the second period, during which they outshot the Hurricanes, 17-4. The six goals tied a season high set in a 6-2 victory over Montreal on Oct. 25.

Tampa Bay 3, New York Islanders 2 -- Cory Stillman scored his 10th goal of the season to give the Lightning a 3-0 lead 4:27 into the third period at Tampa, Fla. The Lightning (10-2-2-1) is 9-0-1 when scoring first.

Edmonton 3, Toronto 2 -- Ty Conklin stopped 31 shots at Edmonton to win his fourth consecutive start and earn his fifth victory in six games since replacing the injured Tommy Salo.

Calgary 2, Montreal 1 -- Martin Gelinas scored with 1:14 left to give the Flames the win at Calgary. He scored off a rebound of a slap shot by Jordan Leopold, beating Jose Theodore.

Vancouver 3, Chicago 2 -- Sami Salo scored 2:59 into overtime to extend the Canucks’ home unbeaten streak to 10 games (9-0-1). The Canucks’ Bryan Allen sent the game into overtime with his first goal of the season 5:59 into the third.

Colorado 4, New York Rangers 3 -- Steve Konowalchuk scored two goals, Alex Tanguay had a goal and an assist, and David Aebischer had 31 saves for the Avalanche at Denver.
