Arab Man Guilty in Hate Attack on Jewish Temple
From Times Wire Reports
A 30-year-old Arab man was convicted of hate crimes for burglarizing and burning down a Jewish temple three years ago.
Raussi Uthman was found guilty of all charges in an 11-count indictment accusing him of burglarizing and setting fire to Temple Beth El in Syracuse. No one was hurt in the fire, which caused $700,000 in damage.
Defense attorney Paul Carey said he would appeal: “The prosecution referred to him as a terrorist. I think there’s a bit of prejudice in all of us after 9/11.”
