Historic Recall Election Is Down to the Wire

The Times doesn’t get it. It isn’t about sex. It isn’t about money. It isn’t about Hollywood or electricity or even Indian gaming. It’s about alienation. Drift. And a pervasive sense of disconnection between the people who (supposedly) hold the public trust and those workaday folks/voters who get up every day, get in their cars and actually work for their paychecks, pay bills and endure (through clenched teeth) all the legislative tomfoolery Sacramento has to offer.

Whether Tuesday’s vote is for Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante or someone else, the message is the same: As citizens, we’re mad as hell and we’re not going to take it any longer!

Politicians beware. The day of reckoning is at hand.

I am convinced that the election to recall the governor is simply a power move to overthrow the last election. Recall has been introduced as a new way to interfere with the voting process. I am quite sure that if the recall is successful, whoever the new governor is will be subject to a recall effort. I am against the recall, but if this one succeeds, I will look forward to signing the new petition for recall.

If the intent is to shake up Sacramento, we might as well shake it until it has to be completely rebuilt. So hold on, it’s going to be a rough ride. The weapon of choice has been selected, and it is available to either side.
