Workers Hurt When Freeway Pillar Collapses
From Times Staff Reports
Two construction workers standing atop a 65-foot-high freeway column that was being built at the Vista Hermosa bridge were injured Monday when the column collapsed, fire officials said.
Authorities said the column, near Avenida Vista Hermosa and Interstate 5, gave way about 2:10 p.m. for unknown reasons.
The men, who were not identified, were taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, said Capt. Steve Miller, spokesman for the Orange County Fire Authority. Their conditions were not known.
