David N. Sheldon, 61; Helped Lead 2 Campuses in the UC System
David N. Sheldon, 61, vice chancellor for administrative services at UC Santa Barbara from 1988 to 2001, died of pancreatic cancer at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital on Oct. 13.
Before being appointed vice chancellor in Santa Barbara, Sheldon spent 22 years at UC Irvine, where he served in a variety of positions, including director of computing and telecommunications and associate vice chancellor for administrative and business services.
Born in San Jose, Sheldon was a third-generation Californian whose family settled in Hollister. He was a graduate of San Jose State, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1964.
