One of the most impressive debut wins of the year was turned in by Artie Schiller on July 16 at Belmont Park.

A 2-year-old son of El Prado out of stakes-winning mare Hidden Light, Artie Schiller rallied from 14 lengths off the pace in a six-furlong turf race to win by a neck under jockey Richard Migliore.

After losing on the main track, the $67,000 yearling purchase returned to the turf and responded with another come-from-behind victory, winning by 1 1/4 lengths as the 7-5 favorite going a mile.

Owned by Timber Bay Farm and Mrs. Thomas Walsh, Artie Schiller will make his stakes debut and stretch out another eighth of a mile in the $75,000 Pilgrim at Belmont.

Race of the day: Wind Flow, who won the Bustles and Bows Stakes by seven lengths at Fairplex Park on Sept. 18, and the Jenine Sahadi-trained entry of Quanah County and Winendyme head the field in the $75,000 Anoakia Stakes at Santa Anita. The six-furlong race attracted only three other 2-year-old fillies -- Hot Weekend, Miss Sand Bar and Free’s Lil Lass.

One for the road: Ocean Silk was second in Group II and Group I races in Europe and adds Lasix for her U.S. debut in today’s $150,000 Dowager at Keeneland. Pat Day will ride the 3-year-old Dynaformer filly for trainer Pat Byrne and she will break from the rail in the 1 1/2-mile turf race.

Exotically speaking: A pick three using Deeliteful Topper and Smilin Susan in the fourth, Dubai Belle and Saintly Persuasion in the fifth and Royal Price, Panoramic, The Dark Night and Loup de Loup in the sixth.

Winners: Previous day/meet total: 3/46. Money: Previous day/meet total: $19.80/$242.20. Total money bet: $276.
