Doctor Sentenced for Selling Oxycodone

A Mexican doctor has been sentenced to one year and nine months in prison for selling pain medication over the Internet to U.S. customers.
Alberto Alvarez, 47, admitted in a San Diego federal court Wednesday that he sold oxycodone, also known by its brand name OxyContin, on the Web site foreignpharmacies.com. Federal authorities said dozens across the United States paid Alvarez up to $10 per pill.
