Council Wastes Its Time and Residents’ Money
Re “Mission Viejo Council Scolds a Colleague,” Oct. 7:
Mission Viejo views itself as one of America’s safest places. After spending innumerable, undisclosed valuable staff and council hours investigating, then castigating City Councilwoman Gail Reavis for an inappropriate $10 expenditure, they should add financially frivolous too. “Lunch-gate” looks more like “Waste-gate.”
Yes, principles are important, but knowing the pitiful amount in question before spending taxpayer money hunting down and proving this major criminal act is a surrealistic version of a famous movie, “The Caine Mutiny.”
Imitating the ship captain’s role of Humphrey Bogart, all that fellow Councilman William S. Craycraft lacked in chambers were the little steel balls rolling around in his palm.
